1) (см. тж. coding) - кодированиеа) преобразование аналоговых электрических или оптических сигналов в определённый цифровой формат для хранения, обработки и отображения на компьютереб) преобразование данных для хранения или передачи, причём обычно таким способом, чтобы исключить избыточность и уменьшить занимаемый ими объём памяти. Большинство алгоритмов сжатия базируется на том или ином методе кодирования. Аудио- и видеоданные кодируются (сжимаются) для обеспечения эффективности хранения и/или передачи и декодируются для доступа и воспроизведения. Кодирование цифровых данных призвано предотвращать их потери в процессе передачи по линиям (каналам) связи - для этого разработано множество методов, например с самосинхронизацией, с исправлением ошибок и др.There are solutions today that do encoding and decoding of hardware. Метод передачи синхросигналов и сигналов данных, при котором каждый битовый элемент разделяется на две половины, при этом полярность второй половины противоположна полярности первой половины.
Примечание. Двоичный 0 представляется путем изменения полярности в начале битового интервала, двоичная 1 - отсутствием изменения полярности в начале битового интервала. Этот вид кодирования не зависит от исходной полярности символа.

двухфазное полярное (униполярное) самосинхронизирующееся кодирование. Текущий бит определяется по наличию перехода (перепада напряжения) в начале битового интервала, например, "0" - есть переход (вертикальный фрагмент), "1" - нет перехода (горизонтальный фрагмент). Возможно и противоположное определение "0" и "1". В середине битового интервала переход есть всегда, он используется для синхронизации. В сетях Token Ring применяется модификация этого метода, в которой кроме битов "0" и "1" определены также два отличимых от них бита "J" и "К".
